Observance set at 20th Century Veterans MemorialTell North Platte what you think

The 20th Century Veterans Memorial will hold a Veteran's Day ceremony at 2 p.m. Nov. 11.

The speaker will be Navy veteran Cal Stratton, the president of the board of directors of the memorial. Jim Beckius, former board president, will be honored during the program for his service to the development of the memorial. Secretary Wilma Salisbury will be the emcee and Howard Gebhardt will give the invocation and benediction.

The memorial has space for 1,900 more memorial bricks in the Walk of Honor, adding to the 3,000 on display. You may purchase a brick to honor a veteran of any period in history. Veterans of the same family will be grouped together.

The memorial office is now in the North Platte-Lincoln County Visitor's Bureau building at 315 West Eugene. Salisbury is in the office from 1-5 p.m. on Thursdays and may be reached at other times at 308-636-2461.

Information about memorial bricks is also available from the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, 120 North Dewey.
