Police remind of winter parking regsTell North Platte what you think

During the months of November, December, January, February and March, it is unlawful for any person owning or in custody or control of a boat or trailer to park or leave standing on the streets, the police department reminds North Platte residents.

The city ordinance applies to any boat, boat trailer, pontoon or pontoon trailer, except for the purposes of loading and unloading, and then only for the length of time necessary to load or unload the boat or trailer, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.

Also, when conditions are favorable for winter storms, residents are encouraged to park in a garage, a surface lot or on secondary side streets so crews can clean and clear major streets that are designated as snow routes.

The following alert will be used to notify the public of snow emergencies and will be publicized by the news media.

"The city of North Platte has declared a snow emergency, effective (fill in the time the emergency was declared.) All vehicles and trailers parked on a snow emergency route are to be removed, or those parked on a designated snow route during a declared snow event, are subject to ticketing and towing.
