Connection opens new, expanded thrift storeTell North Platte what you think

The Connection homeless shelter has opened a new building for its thrift store, which offers furniture, housewares, clothing and other items for sale.

The new building is on the corner of Fifth and Walnut, on the east side of the former thrift store.

"We have everything categorized...and so much more," Connection director Neal Criddle said. "We are so proud of our new location and look forward to helping local families by offering slightly used items at a very reasonable price."

All proceeds from Thrift Connection sales help the homeless shelter.

To donate items to our thrift store, stop at the big garage door on the north side of building from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Saturday.

Criddle said volunteers are ready to serve and receipts of donations are provided. A grand opening will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

First National Bank will be serving lunch for a free will donation. Special sales items will be offered throughout the store. The ribbon cutting is at noon.

The former thrift store will soon be turned into a "Do It Yourself" thrift store, Criddle said. The goal is to sell gently used construction items to help fix up homes or rental properties.
