Kevin A. Mendonca
Bond was set in court Monday for a North Platte man who reportedly pulled a handgun on his parents.
At around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, police went to a residence in the 1800 block of W. First after a 48-year-old man and 37-year-old woman called about a disturbance.
They accused their son of pulling a gun on them.
When Kevin A. Mendonca, 20, of North Platte, was arraigned in court Monday, Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Austen Leighty said Mendonca threatened his parents and pointed a handgun at them during a family argument.
Mendonca left the house before police arrived but recovered the firearm at the residence. Mendonca later returned home, at which time he was arrested, police spokesman Rodney Brown said.
Mendonca was arraigned in court for making terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He faces a maximum sentence of 55 years.
Mendonca requested a public defender. His bond is set at $50,000. According to county jail records, he has not been arrested before.
