Nebraskaland Days: No rock, two nights of countryTell North Platte what you think

Country music star Billy Currington will perform June 28, on the second night of the Summer Jam concert series during Nebraskaland Days.

Currington's performance follows the Lady Antebellum's Take Me Downtown show the night before, and is a change from the rock music show that is typically held on the second night of the concerts.

Currington is a popular star. He just scored his seventh No. 1 single “Hey Girl”, which is the first single to be released off his fifth studio album.

Currington has 11 top 40 hits during his career, including "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right", "Good Directions", "People Are Crazy" and "That's How Country Boys Roll."

Two country acts is not something Nebraskaland Days has done in more than five years. But going into the 50th celebration of the state's official celebration, it seemed like the right time, organizers said.

“At our core, we’re a festival that celebrates our western heritage,” Julius said. “Rounding out the celebration with two acts of this quality just felt right.”
