Lady Knights softball coach Janelle Higgins said Tuesday that her team won’t be able to rake leaves until after Halloween. They are too busy getting ready for Halloween.

Each year, the team creates a “Ghost Town” at the Lincoln County Historical Museum as a fundraiser, with coloring for kids, a spooky maze and marshmallow roasting.

The Ghost Town will open from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 23 and continue nightly through Oct. 31.

Admission is $7. Kids 8 and under are admitted free but there is a $3 charge for activities. Pumpkins and hot chocolate are for sale for a nominal fee.

The hours are 7-midnight on Oct. 24-26; 7-10 p.m. Oct. 27-30; and 7-midnight on Halloween, Oct. 31.

After that, softball players will be available to rake yards.

Although there is no set fee, donations to the Lady Knights softball team are encouraged and appreciated.

In November, residents who want to have their yards raked should call Higgins at (515) 419-5801 after 3 p.m. on weekdays or anytime on weekends; or by email her at higginsj@mpcc.edu.
