Mail: Welcome home to churchTell North Platte what you think

This Advent season, parishioners and the community in general will began viewing TV invitations on local channels to encourage people to come back.

It is an extraordinary undertaking by the diocese of Grand Island under the direction of Bishop William J. Dendinger.

More than 35 dioceses have implemented the Catholic Come Home, Inc. program, and reported remarkable success. It is hoped that all the parishes of the diocese will support the program. St. Patrick's parish in North Platte has been offering the Welcome Home program for the past five years.

Many of us have family members who have drifted away from or actively left the Catholic church. Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic faith? Are you a Catholic who has been away from the practice of your faith? St. Patrick's is offering a six-week course to Welcome Home all interested people.

The first session begins on Tuesday evening, Nov. 5 in the parish hall from 7-9 p.m.

The remaining five sessions will be held on the following Tuesday evenings.

The sessions help you to understand why you are here, give an insight into why history of the church is important, explain the Creed -- what Catholics believe, reconciliation/confession, the Holy Eucharist and the importance of prayer. You will find attending these session is a comfortable, non-judgmental way to reconnect with your faith, or you may prefer to make an appointment with a priest.

Now is the time to make positive moves in your faith journey. For more information, call the parish office at 308-532-0942 or email office@st-pats-online.org. Additional information can be found at www.catholicscomehome.org.
