Michael K. Meyers
Michael Meyers, 43, of North Platte, was arraigned Monday on several charges related to the firing of a handgun Friday night in the 600 block of W. Ninth.
Meyers is held on a $100,000 bond.
He is charged with making terroristic threats, felon in possession of a firearm, driving under the influence of alcohol (3rd offense), firing a weapon in the city limits and refusal to take a chemical test.
Meyers is also charged with driving on a revoked license from a prior DUI and charged with refusing to take the test that time too.
According to court records, police were called around 11 p.m. on Friday to the 600 block of W. Ninth on a report of gunfire.
Upon arrival, a woman said that Meyers parked in the alley behind her home, fired a small caliber handgun and sped off.
A short time later, officers found Meyers driving drunk in a pickup near Buffalo Bill and Ninth. While searching his truck, they found a .38 caliber handgun.
During booking, Meyers became belligerent with officers, earning him charges of refusing to take a chemical test and making terroristic threats.
Meyers has an extensive record of criminal charges. He has been jailed 16 times in Lincoln County since 2000, according to sheriff's records.
