Benefit set for John LindenbergerTell North Platte what you think

A soup and chili supper and live auction will be held Saturday to benefit John Lindenberger, the former director of the Community Connections mentoring program.

Lindenberger was diagnosed in July with acute myeloid leukemia.

One of Lindenberger's mentees, Jeremiah Roebuck, wants to shave his head to show support as Lindenberger continues to undergo treatment.

Roebuck is 8 years old. He has decided to shave his head like his mentor, but he needs the community’s support to do it. Although Jeremiah says he would ultimately like to raise $1,000 for John, if he can raise $250, he will shave his head.

Jeremiah’s mom Barb has planned the soup and chili supper and auction from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the northwest campus of Harvest Christian Fellowship on Rodeo Road.

Auction items include a new guitar from Kittle's Music, a Husker quilt and a detail package from Keith’s Body Shop.

The proceeds will help Lindenberger and his family pay costs associated with the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia -- including chemotherapy, travel to and from Omaha, hospital stays, doctor visits, tests, procedures, blood marrow transplant, and a 100-day stay in Omaha following bone marrow transplant.
