JoAnne Hoatson

JoAnne Hoatson, the executive director of the Golden Spike Tower since early 2009, will leave the position Nov. 15, she announced Friday.

Hoatson said she will take another position in North Platte.

ďIíve had another career opportunity come up," she said "Iím not leaving North Platte, and Iíll work closely with the board of directors to help find the right person to fill the job of executive director."

The spike opened in May 2008. Hoatson took over for the Spike's first director, Shelly Harshaw and her assistant Cindie Kesler on March 19, 2009.

Hoatson said there are "a lot of great things in place for the Spike right now; an amazing staff and volunteers and an excellent board of directors. Itíll be hard to leave on my last day, as most of those working and volunteering at the Spike have become family."

The board of directors will begin searching for a new director.

A transition plan will be put in place for the staff and new executive director.

To submit a resume, contact the Spike board president Jeanie Gilbert, PO Box 393, North Platte, NE 69103.
