Mail: SAVE Day makes money for CASATell North Platte what you think

For the past 16 years, Stop America’s Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Day has been sponsored by the American Medical Association Alliance on the second Wednesday on October.

This year, with the support of the medical staff, Lincoln County Medical Alliance members, John Childears, Equitable Bank, Westfield Pharmacy, Home Instead Senior Care, and Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Stefka, we raised $1,743.13 during our SAVE Day campaign.

This money will go directly to help fund our local Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program and the foster care children it serves.

We know that a child with a CASA volunteer is half as likely to languish in foster care and twice as likely to find a safe, permanent home.

We have 16 volunteers working with 33 children today. But there are 14 children on a waiting list for an advocate, so our work continues.

If you are interested in being a trained CASA volunteer or could help on the CASA board or resource committee, please feel free to contact Vicki Lawton at 520-0577. Our next class starts in November, so fill out your application soon.

CASA is so blessed to have friends like you.

Julie Nielsen, Chairwoman SAVE Day, Lincoln County Medical Alliance
