McGuire leads a Scottsbluff runner

Wyatt McGuire raced to first place Saturday in the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference cross-country meet in Columbus.
McGuire finished the 5 kilometer course in 15 minutes, 15 seconds -- 20 seconds faster than runner up Matthew Barraza of Scottsbluff.
McGuire's average time per mile was 4 minutes, 55 seconds.
"Wyatt ran a fantastic time against some strong competition," North Platte Head Coach Dennis Fornander said. "As a group, the boys ran well."
Scottsbluff easily won the meet with runners taking second, third, sixth, ninth and tenth places
Lexington took second in the meet. Kearney was third and North Platte fourth in the team scores.
Five other North Platte boys finished in the top 35 -- Brandon Edwards, 23rd; Christian Bradley, 26th; Philip Hammer, 29th; Gilbert Seck, 31st; and Tanner Haws, 35th.
In the jayvee race, three North Platte runners finished in the top 10 -- Devin Jean, Sean Haremza and Adam Sanchez.
Molly Sughroue of McCook won the girls varsity race in 18:50.
No North Platte girls placed in the top 10. Talia Martinez placed 14th in 20:46. North Platte's Libby Burrows was 28th in 22:08 and Brooklyn Brinker was 30th in 22:32.
