Charges continued against Hershey manTell North Platte what you think

Micah Koch, 25, of Hershey appeared in Lincoln County District Court for a status hearing Tuesday on charges of motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol- 4th offense or greater.

His case was continued once again. Defense attorney Blaine Gillett asked for and was granted more time to prepare.

Koch is scheduled to be back in district court Dec. 3.

Koch was allegedly driving a pickup shortly after midnight Jan. 28 that crashed and killed a young woman, Korey Huebner.

Koch and another passenger, Jay Shotkoski of Hershey, were injured. The pickup was westbound on Platte Valley Road and hit the dirt bank on the west side of the T intersection at Prairie Trace Road.

Accident reconstructionists from the sheriff’s office believe the truck was speeding when it crashed. Koch’s blood alcohol level tested at twice the legal limit and seat belts were not in use, according to the Lincoln County sheriff’s office.

Koch was arrested Jan. 31. He paid the required 10 percent of $100,000 bond that day and was released.
