A juvenile girl said a Sutherland man abused her on Sunday, and the man was jailed Thursday.
At 4 p.m. on Oct. 6, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Sutherland to check on an uncontrollable girl. When officers talked with the girl, they noticed injuries on her neck. The girl told them that her stepfather Kenneth McConnell lifted her up by her jacket, making it so she could not breathe.
The girl said McConnell then dropped her and she hit the back of her head.
McConnell, 46, told deputies that the girl was not doing as she was told and was being disrespectful to him and others.
McConnell did not deny that he lifted the girl up to control her, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
McConnell is charged with felony child abuse. He paid 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and was released. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 15.
