Rep. Adrian Smith of Nebraska joined the Republican chorus Tuesday, blaming President Barack Obama for refusing to negotiate on a one-year delay of Obamacare.

Smith issued the following statement, more than a week after the government shutdown began.

"Finding a solution will not be easy, but it will be impossible as long as only one side is willing to talk.Ē

The House of Representatives refuses to temporarily fund the government unless Obamacare health care reforms (the Affordable Care Act) are delayed for a year, creating a "shut down" of about 75 percent of the government.

However, the House has passed several smaller bills that would fully fund and reopen some programs, including: Pediatric cancer research, veterans benefits, the National Guard and Army Reserve, disaster relief, backpay for furloughed federal employees, food inspections, nutrition assistance for low income women and children, Headstart programs and national parks, memorials and monuments, Smith said.

Smith said these bills were passed with both Republican and Democrat votes in the House but have not been considered by the U.S. Senate.

The Democrats have the majority in the Senate and they want Obamacare funded.
