North Platte death considered accidentalTell North Platte what you think

Dustin McEntire was found dead Sunday afternoon in a North Platte apartment.

Police found the body of the 30-year-old McEntire around 4 p.m. Sunday in the Platteview Apartments on West Leota, just three blocks off busy Jeffers St.

Police spokesman Rodney Brown said an autopsy was performed on McEntire's body Tuesday, and it didn't reveal enough evidence to conclude that the death was the result of foul play.

Brown called the death "accidental" in a brief email Wednesday to the news media, but he said police "continue with interviews as the case is still ongoing."

Services will be held for McEntire at 1 p.m. Friday at Harvest Christian Church in North Platte, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Sutherland.

McEntire was injured in an auto accident in 2007 that left him paralyzed but he overcame many obstacles and rehabilitated to the point of living independently, his family said in his obituary published Wednesday in the Bulletin.

Dustin is survived by his parents, Ricky and Debra Campbell McEntire, son Jeremiah and brothers Jordan and Jared, and other family members.

Memorials in his name can be sent to Quality Living Incorporated of Omaha, where he rehabilitated after the auto accident.
