The statements of a girl about sexual assaults that happened four years ago led to the arrest of a Sutherland man on Thursday.

On Sept. 12, an interview was conducted with a female juvenile at the Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center in North Platte, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff's statement.

The girl told the interviewer that four years ago, 27-year-old Wray D. Dodrill of North Platte sexually assaulted her. She was about 10-years-old at the time.

She said the assaults happened nightly and repetitively for more than a year while she lived in Hershey.

Investigators also talked to an adult woman who said the girl told her the same story, that Dodrill had sexually assaulted her on many occasions.

Dodrill, who now lives in Sutherland, was interviewed on Thursday by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Investigators. He denied the assaults but investigators believed there was enough evidence to charge him with five counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

The counts include oral and vaginal intercourse, according to court statements Friday.

In court, Dodrill asked for a relatively low bond. He said he is the only provider for his family, which includes two children.

Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull said he understands "this is an important issue for you, but the reality is the victim was 10 years old and it happened repeatedly over the period of a year."

Bond was set at $250,000.

Dodrill has struggled with alcohol in the past. In February 2012, he was pulled over for going 20 miles an hour over the speed limit on a U.S. highway. His blood alcohol content was over 0.15. He was charged with driving under the influence – second offense. He told the court he was seeking treatment.
