The Teammates Mentoring Program of Nebraska will receive a gift of $1.5 million from the estate of Glenn Korff.

Korff, a native of Hebron, was a long-time supporter of the Thayer County Teammates Chapter and the overall Teammates Mentoring Program.

“Glenn was a very caring and generous gentleman," said Teammates Board Member Denny Walker. "He will be greatly missed.”

Walker and Korff became friends as fraternity brothers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Korff left several sizeable bequests. He gave $2 million to help Lincoln's Centennial Mall reconstruction, $8 million to the school of music at the University of Nebraska and with his brother, $2.5 million to the NU College of Business Administration.

Korff worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City. He was a member of the board of trustees of the University of Nebraska foundation.

The Teammates Mentoring Program was founded in 1991 by Tom and Nancy Osborne to provide support and encouragement to school-age youth.

“Glenn’s generosity will make a difference in the lives of youth for generations to come,” Osborne said.

Osborne said Teammates is a growing organization and the gift will be a tremendous boost to long term sustainability.

“Glenn has been tremendously generous to many organizations and we greatly appreciate his support of Teammates," Osborne said.

The gift is to the Teammates Foundation, whose mission is to provide financial resources to the Teammates Mentoring Program.

Teammates mentors meet once a week in a school setting and focus on the strengths and talents of youth. The program serves more than 6,000 youth in over 112 chapters across Nebraska and Iowa.
