Rain on Fourth St., 4 p.m. Friday

Showers and thunderstorms began Friday afternoon in North Platte, expected to continue into the wee hours of the morning.

The rain will end overnight and skies will clear Saturday. The sun will shine for a few days, according to the National Weather Service in North Platte.

The overnight forecast calls a low of around 44 with an east wind of 13-18 miles an hour, changing to the northwest after midnight, according to the weather service.

Winds could gust as high as 28 miles an hour overnight.

The sun will shine Saturday with a high near 70 degrees. A west-northwest wind will blow Saturday at 10-13 mph.

The thermometer will dip into the upper 30s Saturday night but temperatures will warm into the 70s and 80s next week, the weather service said.
