North Platte' Wyatt McGuire dominated the field of runners Tuesday in the Grand Island Invitational cross country meet.
McGuire outran his closest competitor by 34 seconds, touring the 5K course on the Indianhead Golf Course in 16:28.61.
Runner up Machol Chol of Grand Island finished in 16:52.34.
The North Platte boys team was second in the seven-team meet. Grand Island was first.
It was McGuire's third straight win, after the McCook Invite on Friday and the Kearney Invite on Sept. 14.
"Wyatt's running well," Head Coach Dennis Fornander said. "It's been a heck of a week, with a short turn around from our last meet."
McGuire and the Bulldogs will run against some of the top runners in the state Sept. 30 at the UNK Invitational.
"We'll find out what we're made of," Fornander said. "As a team, the boys are starting to come on. We have several freshmen and sophomores who are making good progress."
North Platte sophomore Ben Engleman was the second Bulldog to cross the finish line Tuesday, finishing 15th in 18:38.63. After that, North Platte runners were 18, 20, 23, 27 and 34 in the field of 150 runners.
Columbus dominated the girls race, placing six runners in the top 10.
Libby Burrows turned in the best time for the North Platte girls, finishing 12th in 22:04.95.
Talia Martinez was 14th, just two seconds behind Burrows. Five other Lady Dawgs were in the top 32, finishing 19, 23, 27, 29 and 31.
