We would like to publicly thank the many people who helped make the “Safe Rides for Ian” magic show on Aug. 24 such a big success for the Galloways! The “Safe Rides” fund is about 2/3rds of the way to a different vehicle! Thank you for helping us get Ian safely to Omaha and back this winter.
The son of Jason and Melissa Galloway, 3-year-old Ian has neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic order that has given him brain tumors. He also has tumors squeezing his optic nerves. After diagnosis this summer, Ian and his family have driven to Children's Hospital in Omaha weekly for chemotherapy treatments. The fundraiser was held to help the Galloways acquire better transportation. - Editor
Derek Selinger of Wonder Entertainment was phenomenal — your performance was a wonderful treat for this community! Holiday Inn Express and Suites was the perfect venue for this event — your generosity went above and beyond when our first venue didn’t work out.
Thank you also to: Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Eake’s Office Plus and Ideal Linen for your behind-the- scenes help. And a huge thanks to Regina Hanson, whose passion made this event possible, and whose love and friendship has held us up when we couldn’t on our own.
We have discovered again what a wonderful community we have! So many businesses and people donated to the silent auction, made desserts, organized, and cleaned up. More than all of that was the emotional support and prayers that we’ve felt from all of you — thank you from the bottom of our heart!!
After 10 weeks of chemo and anti-seizure medicine, Ian is a new kid. His speech is returning and has a rational thought process again. We hope this means his brain tumors are shrinking. However, the tumors on the optic nerves are causing continual vision loss and we ask for your prayers for this.
The magic show was the start of a large raffle, which will be drawn at a *free lunch event* on Oct. 9 at The Old TownSquare in downtown North Platte. You need not be present to win. $1 raffle tickets are available at The Old TownSquare, Dr. Jeff Hoover’s with Hoover Chiropractic, The Stage Dance Studio and The Natural Nutrition House.
