After spending 172 days in the county jail, Cody Jolliffe, 29, of North Platte will move in the state penitentiary for 7–17 years, following sentencing Monday in Lincoln County District Court.

Jolliffe was convicted of three burglaries -- Kohler Trailer Sales and Ideal Linen of North Platte, as well as a home south of Lake Maloney -- all of which involved a substantial sum of money. And, Jolliffe was also convicted of possession of methamphetamine.

During sentencing, Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands spoke of Jolliffe’s long criminal record that began in 1995 when he was still a juvenile.

“Since that time, you have been in court at least once nearly every year,” Rowlands said.

Rowlands sentenced Jolliffe to 2–6 years for the burglary of Kohler Trailer Sales, 4–8 years for the burglary of Ideal Linen and a home south of Lake Maloney and 1–3 years for possession of methamphetamine.

After Rowlands handed down consecutive sentences on those three charges, he gave Jolliffe credit for 172 days he has already spent in the Lincoln County jail. Rowlands stipulated that the 172-day credit would only apply to the 1–3 year sentence on the meth charge.

When Jolliffe was asked if he had anything to say, he said he takes responsibility for the crimes but he also puts the blame for “every crime he’d ever been accused of” on drugs and alcohol.

Co-defendant Jacob Moser, 25, of North Platte, received two consecutive sentences on Sept. 9 that amount to 6-12 years imprisonment in connection with the same burglaries.
