Three organizations will ramp up their promotional efforts, thanks to support from the North Platte/Lincoln County Visitors Bureau.
An advisory committee of the visitor's bureau has awarded 5,600 in promotional fund grants to three attractions.
The Cody Cruisers Car Club received $600 in promotional funds to help with the Col. Cody Cruise Show and Shine scheduled Sept. 6-8.
This is the 19th year for the show and shine, which attracts approximately 300 cars from as far away as Texas. The downtown car show will be on Sept. 7.
North Platte Community College was awarded $3,000 to help with the first-ever collegiate rodeo to be held during Rail Fest weekend on Sept. 20-21.
This is the third year of a rodeo club at NPCC and coach and professional rodeo rider Dustin Elliott was successful in convincing the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association to move a rodeo to North Platte.
Two hundred and fifty contestants from 13 teams plus several independent competitors are expected to compete.
The bands are all booked for the 14th annual Country Bluegrass Show April 24-26, 2014, with a new emphasis on attracting younger people to the festival.
The popular festival was awarded $2,000 to help with expenses.
The visitor's center advisory committee considers grant applications each month. Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesdays of each month.
Application deadlines are 60 days before the start of the event and prior to the first day of the month in which the application will be heard.
