College board of governors to meetTell North Platte what you think

The board of governors of Mid-Plains Community College will hold a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28 in the Conference Room 200 on the North Campus of North Platte Community College, 1101 Halligan Dr.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

Among items on the agenda, the board will consider a proposed budget and may recommend the budget be published and presented at the public hearing on Sept. 11.

Also, the board will consider adding two assistant residence hall director positions; one at MCC and one at NPCC.

The positions are in the proposed budget for 2013-14.

2. OPEN FORUM (Comments from Faculty, Staff, Public and Board)

Anyone wishing to address the Board may do so during the Open Forum by completing the “Request to Address the MPCC Board of Governors” form available at the sign-in book by the door, prior to the start of the meeting. The Nebraska Public Meetings Law is posted in the Board room.

3. CONSENT ITEMS (June & July Financial Reports will be in October Board Packet)

3.1 Minutes from July 24 Work Session

3.2 Minutes from July 24 Regular Board Meeting

3.3 Approval of Bills for July in the amount of $959,101.41


4.1 Website Design Update, Internet Marketing & Brand Positioning: The Board may consider accepting a 12-month agreement with Expertise Inc. to develop and implement college website improvements as outlined in their proposal and not to exceed $52,000.

4.2 Mid-Plains Education Association (MPEA): The Board will consider the acknowledgement of the MPEA negotiating team. A letter from MPEA identifying the specific members will be shared at the Board meeting.

4.3 Mid-Plains Classifed Staff Association (MPCSA): The Board will consider the acknowledgement of the CSA negotiating team consisting of the following members: Pam Burks, Chief Negotiator; Carol Garrison, Mary Lister, Dee Maxwell, Brenda Peters, Gigi Sattler, and Jackie Briley (Alternate).

4.4 Proposed Budget for Public Hearing: The Board may consider recommending a proposed budget to be published and presented at the Public Hearing on September 11.

4.5 Assistant Residence Hall Director Positions: The Board will consider adding two Assistant Residence Hall Director Positions; one at MCC and one at NPCC. These positions are in the proposed budget for 2013-14.

4.6 Security Contract: The Board will consider a bid for security services for 2013-14.
