Joshua James Walsh was arrested Tuesday for an alleged rape 10 months ago.

Police said the case began on Oct. 15, when a 20-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted while sleeping in her home.

The woman said Walsh was an acquaintance who had attended a party at her house and assaulted her, police spokesman Lt. Steve Reeves said. Evidence was collected, including DNA samples. When Walsh was questioned at the time, he denied the allegation.

When the DNA test results finally returned, they pointed to Walsh. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree sexual assault.

His bond was set at $100,000. If convicted, Walsh faces a maximum of 50 years in prison.

Stolen tools

Also, police investigated a reported theft Tuesday at Ag Valley Coop in North Platte.

An Ag Valley manager said an employee, Allen McGinnis, failed to return to work and kept more than $800 in tools that Ag Valley owned. McGinnis allegedly ignored requests by management to return the tools.

Investigators were able to contact McGinnis, who told them that he sold the tools, Reeves said. McGinnis is charged with felony theft. He was processed and released Thursday at the Lincoln County Jail.
