Rachel A. Langley
Rachel Langley, 46, of Portland Ore. was arraigned in Lincoln County Court Tuesday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
She requested a public defender and her bond is set at $20,000. Langley will be back for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 15.
Langley was stopped by the Nebraska State Patrol Monday about three miles east of Sutherland on Interstate-80 for a traffic violation. The trooper said he found probable cause to search her and the vehicle. He found drug paraphernalia and two grams of a white powder that tested positive for meth.
She also had less than an ounce of marijuana, according to a state patrol report.
In county court, Langley told Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull that she runs her own housecleaning business in Portland, but is currently not working. She told Turnbull that just wants to get this over with and get out of jail.
Turnbull told her that isn’t quite how it works. He informed her that the county attorney’s office is aware that she is on probation in Oregon and she cannot bond out of jail until it is known if Oregon is going to press charges for violating her probation.
Langley apparently left the state of Oregon without checking in with her probation officer.
