I am writing this letter because as most everyone knows the Pawnee Assisted Living is closing as of Aug. 31. It's a sad and difficult time for us all, especially for our residents, having to leave their home and their friends. I just hope and pray wherever they go that they are loved and cared for as much as they were loved and cared for here. I've been working at the Pawnee for 22 years. It's been a very rewarding experience taking care of our residents, they are all a great bunch.
I love and care about them all. We've become a close family, but now we have to go our separate ways. Not knowing where is the hardest part, especially for those who don't have families.
We are their family. We've all shared a lot of laughs, cried together and shared many memorable stories that will always remain in our hearts. It's been a wonderful place to work. I loved my job and my residents. I will miss them.
I've told them that wherever they go, they better be taken care of and loved or someone will have to answer to me.
I would like to thank the downtown association for providing Christmas gifts for each of our residents. It meant a lot to them. I appreciate it more than you know.
Thanks you to all who have donated, and to the churches who have come, and fellowshipped with our residents and to all the volunteers who have come to the Pawnee, and all who have donated to our residents.
I hope and pray that things will get better in the future so that our residents can return.
