Cops & courts: Butrick charged, Wood sentencedTell North Platte what you think

William Butrick, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of stolen property, after police got a report from someone who thought he’d bought some of the stolen goods.

Police traced the goods to the original owner, who told them that another $300 in power tools was missing from his garage.

Police started the investigation at 3:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 14th, information officer Rodney Brown said.

Butrick was also charged with failure to appear in Dawson County court on a charge of driving on a suspended license.

Carol Wood, 49, of North Platte, accepted a plea deal Thursday from the Lincoln County Attorney’s office and pled guilty to second-offense driving under the influence of alcohol.

Wood was initially charged with third offense, aggravated.

Wood was fined $500, sentenced to 33 days in jail and her driver’s license was suspended for 18 months.

Wood had two prior convictions, one in 1998 and another in 2004. In less than a month, the first charge will be 15 years old, when it would no longer count as an accruing violation. The county attorney decided to not count that charge this time if Wood would plead guilty.

Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull hesitantly went along with not considering the 1998 conviction and handed down the sentence.
