Bond remains at $2 million for teenagerTell North Platte what you think

Accused stabber Jordan Baker, 16, appeared in court via video Thursday from the county jail for a preliminary hearing on charges of attempted homicide, escape, use of a weapon to commit a felony and theft.

Baker and Keenan Lambert, 18, of Amherst-Miller, are accused of stabbing two female workers in their backs at the Nebraska Youth Center in North Platte on July 9, after which they allegedly escaped in a car belonging to one of the victims.

After a struggle, the women managed to lock themselves in the office and call for help.

They were hospitalized for a few days, but they are recovering.

Lincoln County Judge Michael Piccolo found enough evidence to bind the charges over to district court. Defense attorney Patrick Hays requested a bond reduction, but it was denied. Bakerís bond will stay at $2 million.

The boys were arrested about an hour later, at 1:20 a.m., after Dawson County deputies spotted the car on I-80 near Cozad. The deputies followed the car for 10 miles and pulled it over. With assistance from a Lexington police officer, the teens were arrested without further trouble and brought back to the Lincoln County Jail, where they remain.
