The North Platte nine-year-old All Stars fell short at regionals Saturday and Sunday in a tournament at Centennial Park.
Teams from North Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska and Canada came to North Platte to compete.
The North Platte all-stars opened pool play with an offensive battle with the Colorado team from southeast Denver, but lost 16-9.
This game was followed by a heartbreaking last-inning loss to the Kansas state champions 7-6. The last pool matchup pitted North Platte against Team Canada. The North Platte bats came alive and the All Stars defeated Canada 17-7.
North Platte entered the single elimination tournament seeded sixth and played the No. 3 seed from Denver.
North Platte lost an exciting extra-inning game, 5-4.
North Dakota defeated Missouri for the tournament title.
