Supporting children’s social and emotional development and positive behavior is the topic of a two-day workshop in Aug. 9-10 in North Platte.

Dan St. Romain will speak. Romain is an independent educational consultant from San Antonio who has worked in residential and public school settings.

The workshop is geared for early childhood professionals, childcare providers and parents.

Participants can attend one or both days at no cost and lunch is provided.

Pre-registrations are requested to Deb Frates in Ogallala at dfrates@esu16.org.

Topics include:

• The changing face of discipline - changing from a compliance-based approach to self-regulation.

• Just going through a stage - working with parents, encouraging independence and appropriate interventions.

• Strengthening positive behaviors in the classroom.

• Accentuate the positive - a healthy start in early childhood.

• Staying out of power struggles with primary students.
