Operation Lifesaver and taking shelter in the event of a railroad chemical spill will the topics at the next LincUP meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, July 22 in the student lounge on the north campus of North Platte Community College. Patrick Leahy will talk about Operation Lifesaver -- a nationwide, non-profit public information program dedicated to reducing collisions, injuries and fatalities at highway-rail crossings and on railroad properties.
The panel will also discuss their continuing efforts to increase community awareness of how to shelter in place in the event of a chemical emergency.
The meeting is open to the public with a public comment period from 5:15-5:25 p.m.
LincUP stands for Lincoln County - UPRR Community Advisory Panel. It is a volunteer panel of community members and railroad representatives, which meets monthly to explore health, safety and environmental issues involving the railroad.
