Nebraska State Patrol Troopers Tim Flick and Dave Johnson were honored with the Jason Pratt Award for heroic actions during a June 2012 armed robbery and standoff at an Alliance pharmacy.

Also, Special Achievement Awards were presented to Troop A Commander Capt. Bret Friesz and Lt. Kevin Bridges of Troop A.

Friesz was recognized for his continuing works on Data Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety. Revolving around the premise that motor vehicles are often used in crimes, DDACTS utilizes data derived through traffic enforcement strategies to promote citizen safety with the ultimate goal of reducing the potential for traffic crashes.

Bridges was recognized for his development and maintenance of the Metro Area Motorist Assist Program.

MAMAP utilizes volunteers in specially marked vans to render assistance to stalled or stranded motorists, avoiding secondary motor vehicle crashes and allowing sworn metro area officers to respond to calls of a more urgent nature.

The awards were presented by Joe Jeanette of the United States Attorney’s Office, Lt. Colonel Tom Schwarten of the NSP and Bob Houston, Director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
