It was reported that Paul Schwager, 38, had assaulted his wife and was holding her at knife point. The call came at 2013 at 4:24 a.m., according to a sheriff's statement.

When deputies arrived, a woman told deputies she was asleep in bed when her husband pulled her out of bed by her hair. She said Schwager pushed and shoved her through the house, eventually pushing her down stairs into the garage.

She said Schwager grabbed a knife and as the two wrestled over it, she cut her hand.

She said eventually Schwager again took her to the ground and started punching her in the head.

When questioned, Schwager indicated he did not start the fight and did not use a knife. He said his wife pulled the knife on him, and he got hurt as he took it away from her.

Schwager said he never assaulted his wife.

Deputies found the woman's statements more believable and they charged Schwager for second degree domestic assault and took him to the Lincoln County Jail.

Alcohol was a factor, the sheriff's statement said.

Wallace

On Sunday at 5:47 a.m., deputies were asked to respond to a domestic disturbance in Wallace involving Lawrence Kidd, 42, and his wife.

Mrs. Kidd told investigators that her husband tried to strangle her during a late night argument.

Lawrence Kidd admitted to strangling his wife and was arrested, the sheriff's office said. Deputies believe that Kidd also placed his arm across her face and asked her if she wanted to die.

Kidd was arrested for felony domestic assault and strangulation. He was jailed in the Lincoln County Detention Center. Alcohol was a factor in this case, the sheriff said.
