State closes a Lake Maloney swimming area Tell North Platte what you think

To prevent accidents between swimmers and boaters, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has closed about 65 yards of waterfront located just north of the main boat ramp at Lake Maloney State Recreation Area.

The closure will allow boaters and personal watercraft users to have a buffer area when loading and unloading their vessels.

This ramp is the main ramp at the outlet and camping area on the east side of Lake Maloney.

Also, it is unlawful to swim or bathe in any marinas or within 20 yards of launching, mooring or docking areas.

NGPC’s Southwest Law Enforcement Supervisor Roger Thompson said that there are several other designated swimming areas posted at Lake Maloney SRA.

“Swimming in the designated areas makes the water safe and enjoyable for all that wish to spend time at the lake,” Thompson said.
