The Kearney branch is located on the hill at 46th St. and 2nd Ave. Justin Schwartz is the senior vice-president in charge of the operation. It will employ seven people, five of which re-located from the NebraskaLand National Bank North Platte headquarters.

The bank will operate out of a modular building with a drive-up window, counter, vestibule and offices.

Construction of a permanent building will begin in the spring, bank president Mike Jacobson said. Plans call for the permanent building to be three stories-tall, with 7,000 square feet on each floor, with upper floors rented to other tenants.

Jacobson has been busy already doing business in Kearney.

"We will have $50 million in loan volume in Kearney the day we open," he said. "There is a growing, can-do attitude there. It is an incredibly viable business community.”

In 2013, Nebraskaland National Bank reached $500 million in total assets, a remarkable achievement for a bank that started from scratch 15 years ago in a downtown North Platte storefront with $3 million in working capital, competing with 12 other banks in the area.

Nebraskaland Bank grow from the smallest to the largest bank in Lincoln County in 12 years, and it became one of the largest 35 banks in the entire state.

Jacobson predicts that the bank will expand in other communities besides Kearney, adding to existing branches in Mullen and Rock Springs, Wyo.

Meanwhile, construction of Nebraskaland Bank’s new three-story main bank in North Platte continues to make steady progress. The 62,000 square-foot building, near the south entrance to the city, is on pace to open in November if the pace continues, which would be about five months ahead of schedule.

The size of the new North Platte bank continues to amaze people as it takes shape.

Jacobson said the building is built for growth, and it will always be the corporate headquarters, handling administrative and managerial work for branches.

“We have learned the hard way -- to expand, build more space then you need,” he said. “When we first moved into our main building, I didn’t really know how we would ever fill it. Now we are over-crowded.”

In the new buildings, space will be leased to other businesses until the bank needs the space. The North Platte bank building is capable of accommodating a coffee shop and restaurant.

Jacobson noted that NebraskaLand National Bank maintains a five-star rating from Bauer Financial for superior performance and strength. And, the bank received an “excellent financial strength” rating from Weiss Rating, a national independent research and analysis group.

He said NebraskaLand National Bank “earned these distinctions by excelling in key areas including capital, asset quality and profitability.”

Jacobson said the bank looks forward to providing Kearney residents with the same quality of service and commitment to community.
