A North Platte man and his son were both severely cut in their faces Wednesday night with a large knife or machete, North Platte police said.
Richard Cooper, 55, of North Platte came to at Great Plains Regional Medical Center around 11:30 p.m. with a cut on the left side of his face and his forehead. And, he also had a broken bone above his left eye, according to the North Platte Police Department.
Both Cooper and his son Richard Beck, 27, of Commerce City, Colo., who was with him during the assault, said George Trejo, 35, attacked Cooper in the 1400 block of East 12th.
Beck had a deep cut on his right hand, as well as a cut on his right cheek and upper lip that required stitches. He told police that he tried to intervene.
Trejo was arrested and taken to the Lincoln County Jail, where he is charged with two counts of first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon.
Trejo's bonds have been set at $100,000 for each of those assault charges as well as for using the weapon, according to sheriff’s records.
