Norfolk Golden Girls

Mikenzi Wiseman went 2-3 and hit a homerun, but North Platte still fell to the 18U Norfolk Golden Girls 10-7 in four innings on Saturday.

Two of North Platte's runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Wiseman. She singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the third, North Platte faced just a 7-3 deficit. A homerun by Christina Yoshida and the homerun by Wiseman set off a North Platte rally.

Four runs in the bottom of the fourth helped North Platte close it's deficit to 10-7. A steal of home by Sally Hengen, a two-run error, and an RBI single by Aura Adkisson fueled North Platte's comeback attempt.


Nebraska Blue Diamonds

Hengen and Wiseman each went 1-2, but North Platte Express still fell to the 16U Nebraska Blue Diamonds 4-2 in five innings on Saturday.

Kaite Franzen pitched lights out for North Platte. Franzen gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during her three innings of work.

One run in the bottom of the third helped North Platte close the deficit to 4-1. An error gave North Platte Express life but Reanna Crane grounded out to end the inning.

One run in the bottom of the fifth helped North Platte close the deficit to 4-2. Another error triggered North Platte's comeback but Yoshida grounded out to end the game.


Fairbury Fushion

North Platte beat the 16U Fairbury Fushion 2-1 in five innings on Saturday behind Crane, who went 2-2.

Shayla Kummer got the win for North Platte. She allowed one run over five innings. Kummer struck out one, walked two and gave up four hits.

In the bottom of the second, North Platte grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Wiseman tripled to centerfield and scored on a Crane single.

The game was never in doubt after the fifth, as North Platte scored one run on another RBI single by Crane.


Seward Storm

North Platte dropped an 8-0 decision to the 18U Seward Storm on Saturday.

North Platte's lone hit came on a Wiseman single in the second inning.


Columbus Fire & Ice

North Platte beat the 18U Columbus Fire and Ice 7-3 in eight innings on Sunday at behind Kayln Hahn, who went 3-3 at the plate.

The game went into an International tie-breaker in the eighth inning with the score tied at 3-3.

Hahn, Kummer, Bri Schade and Wiseman supplied the offense that fueled North Platte's extra-innings victory.

North Platte relied on Franzen to eat up innings en route to the win. She allowed two earned runs, seven hits, and no walks while striking out two over eight innings of work.


Norfolk Impact

North Platte lost 1-0 in five innings on Sunday, despite outhitting the 18U Norfolk Impact three to two. Sadie Vargas went 2-2 and Franzen 1-2 for the three North Platte hits.

In the fourth inning, Norfolk pushed across its only run of the game on a wild pitch by Kummer.


Lincoln Swingers

Wiseman went 2-2 with two doubles and two RBIs and Yoshida went 1-1 and hit a home run, sparking North Platte to a 9-4 victory in three innings over the 16U Lincoln Swingers on Sunday.

North Platte stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on a two-run double by Crane and the solo homerun by Yoshida.

One run in the bottom of the second helped Lincoln close its deficit to 4-3.

North Platte tacked on another five runs in the third. Vargas kicked things off with a single, scoring Franzen. That was followed up by Wiseman's two-run double, plating Yoshida and Vargas. Shelby Webster and Hengen would score to round out the five North Platte runs.

North Platte will be in action at the ASA Class A State Tournament in Hastings on July 12-14.
