Ronald D. Townsend
A North Platte man was charged Wednesday with selling Xanax without a license. Ronald Townsend, 40, is in the Lincoln County Jail, charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
He was arrested after someone tipped police that Townsend offered them Xanax for sale and said Townsend was at a bar in town. Officers found Townsend with a bottle of Alprazolam and a suspicious amount of cash.
According to police spokesman John Deal, Townsend’s story didn’t add up and he appeared to be under the influence of a drug.
Townsend is held at the county jail under a $10,000 bond.
His extensive record goes back to January 2000, with six separate assault charges. He was charged in March 2000 with eight counts of forged checks and has also faced charges of possession of methamphetamine, pandering, violating a protection order, driving under the influence and driving under suspension.
He was a fugitive from Oklahoma in September 2009.
