Sheena Strand, 26, was arrested Tuesday, accused of hiding a fugitive, Ross Rivera.

Police spokesman John Deal said police went to the 2000 block of West Fifth at 6:40 p.m. to see if Rivera was there.

Strand told them he was not, but other people there said he was.

Officers gained consent to enter the house and found Rivera hiding in a bedroom, Deal said. When questioned again, Strand admitted that she lied. She was arrested and charged with false reporting and obstructing a police officer.

Deal said Strand did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. That time, Rivera escaped before police got inside.

Rivera, 29, of North Platte, was arraigned Friday for felony domestic assault and failure to appear.

He has prior convictions of domestic assault in February 2010 and February 2012. Past charges also include possession of amphetamine and psilocybin, escape, contempt of court and criminal mischief.

His bond was set at $5,000 for failure to appear and $50,000 for assault.

Strand’s bond is set at $5,000 for each charge.
