Several area attractions will be able to ramp up their promotional efforts to attract visitors, thanks to grants from the North Platte-Lincoln County Visitors Bureau. In action at two recent monthly meetings of the bureau's advisory committee, $5,594.19 in promotional fund grants and sponsorship was approved.
In May, North Platte Legion Baseball received $2,000 to attract teams to the 2013 Class A Junior State Tourney. Also, the Wellfleet Fall Festival as well as the Sutherland Rodeo and 4th of July celebration both received $500 to help put on and promote their celebrations.
In June, a grant of $1,094.19 was awarded to the North Platte Area Childrenís Museum to help their website be more mobile device friendly and also to produce rack cards.
The Hershey Fall Festival, the Lincoln County High School Rodeo club and the Maxwell Heritage Day each received $500 to help put on and promote their activities.
The advisory committee considers grant applications at each meeting, which are scheduled for the third Wednesdays of each month.
Application deadlines are 60 days before the start of an event and prior to the first day of the month in which the application will be heard.
