The North Platte First National Bank Juniors committed seven errors on Tuesday in an 11-4 loss to Kearney at Bill Wood Field.

"You can't give Kearney extra outs," said Juniors coach Adam Sterup. "Anytime you have more errors than hits, that spells trouble."

North Platte got off to a good start. With one out in the first inning, Marcus Silos hit an RBI double to left field off of pitcher Kyle Andersen to score the first run. Then Dylan Petersen made it 2-0 by sacrificing himself with a ground ball to first base.

Kearney answered back in the second with its first run on a sacrifice by Dylan Fruhling to the shortstop to make it 2-1.

The First Nationals then started to unravel in the third. Kearney tied the game at 2-2 when Fruhling reached on a throwing error by Petersen, the shortstop.

North Platte regained the lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI sacrifice by Silos. But it didn't last long.

In the fifth, Breyden Eckhout hit a three-run double to deep left field off of Jace Barker to give Kearney the lead for good at 5-3.

It became 6-3 after a passed ball by the catcher, Silos. Then Chris Langin reached on an error by second baseman Braiden Ruffin to make it 7-3.

The Nationals tried to answer back in the bottom half with Petersen hitting a sacrifice fly ball to center. But Kearney scored two each in the sixth and the seventh to close the game out.

"Jace pitched really well but we didn't help him out," Sterup said.
