Taehya Baca added a worm Monday to the worm farm that is being created during the North Platte Public Library summer reading program.

Readers in grades kindergarten through 5th are making their way to the center of the earth by reading this summer.

Reading hours are turned into miles as about 150 children participate in the “Dig Into Reading” program, said library spokeswoman Terri Johnson.

The program continues through July 17.
