The North Platte First National Bank Seniors split a doubleheader on Saturday with Lincoln High at Bill Wood Field.
North Platte won the first game 8-2 before dropping the second one to the Links 7-4.
In the first inning of the opening contest, Luke Volz scored the first run for the First Nationals with his one out RBI single to left field.
Lincoln High took the lead in the third inning. The first of the two runs came on a double steal and the second came on a sacrifice by Steve David.
But those were the only two runs the Links scored on pitcher Ben Sukraw. North Platte regained the lead in the fourth inning on Drew Beyer's two-run single to left. Sukraw then followed with a two-run single of his own to make it 5-2. The fifth and last run of the inning came across on a wild pitch by Race Schuurmans.
The Nationals added to their lead in the sixth inning by scoring two runs before Sukraw finished things off in the seventh.
In the second game, North Platte just didn't have the answer on the mound. Four pitchers (Jack Kenny, Dalton Pflughaupt, Riley Vieyra and Darian Allberry) shared the work and neither was overly effective.
The Links led by as much as 5-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. The First Nationals answered back with three to pull within 5-4. But in the top of the seventh, Zac Spence hit a two run double to left to extend the lead to three. North Platte couldn't rally in the bottom of the seventh and Lincoln High came away with the split.
