Hershland's Baylor Hellmuth gets a lead from first base as North Platte's Brendan Folk looks on.
The North Platte First National Bank Juniors took advantage of nine Hershland errors on Tuesday to win 10-0 at Bill Wood Field.
But Juniors coach Adam Sterup said he didn't care how it happened, he was just glad to see his team get a win after going 1-5 last week.
"We had a rough weekend (at the Crete Invite)," said Sterup. "It was good to get a win and play in front of our home crowd for once."
In the second inning, Kevin Hancock scored the first run when he reached on a dropped ball in right field by Baylor Hellmuth.
North Platte (13-15) scored another run in the third before taking control in the fourth.
Hancock hit a double to make it 3-0. Then Dominic Martinez singled into right field for a 4-0 lead before Braiden Ruffin brought in the last of three runs by reaching on an error.
In the fifth, Hancock got his third and fourth RBIs of the night after reaching on Jaelyn Foster's drop in left. Martinez and Jace Barker brought in two more runs in the inning to put it at 9-0.
The First Nationals scored the one run needed to end the game with the mercy rule in the sixth inning.
Marcus Silos was the winning pitcher for North Platte.
"We did pretty well," Sterup said. "Marcus threw really well for not having a whole lot of time on the mound. Offensively, we hit the ball better than we have the last two weeks."
