Matthew H. Bobo
Matt Bobo, 28, of North Platte, pled not guilty Monday of attempted robbery, attempted possession of methamphetamine and possession of a defaced firearm.
His defense attorney Stephen Potter asked for more time to prepare. The request was granted. Meanwhile, Bobo remains in the Lincoln County Jail, held on a $500,000 bond.
Bobo was arrested April 11, after a shooting and botched drug deal on the north side of town.
Benjamin Newman, 30, showed up at the emergency room of Great Plains Regional Medical Center at 1 a.m. with a gunshot wound in his leg.
Later that night, police rounded up Britton Renfrow, 21, in a car on the west side of town. Bobo was arrested later walking on the Jeffers St. overpass, carrying a gun, police information officer Rodney Brown said.
Ethen M. Bentley, 21, was arrested two days later.
The men allegedly set out to steal an 8-ball of meth (3.5 ounces) from Newman. Newman ran away from the car in the 1700 block of N. Franklin and Renfrow allegedly shot him, according to police reports and preliminary testimony.
All three men have been in jail since they were arrested more than two months ago. Renfrow is held on a $300,000 bond. Bentley is held on $100,000 bond.
