Gill has resigned effective July 19. She led the McCook campus since January 2012, after the abrupt resignation of former vice-president Richard Tubbs.

Two searches were conducted to find a permanent vice president.

Long currently serves as the dean of enrollment management for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo. He was born and raised in Grant and spent several years teaching and coaching in Cozad and Big Springs, college spokeswoman Denise Sullivan said.

Gill began working at the McCook campus in July 2004. She plans to take a job at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, where her former boss Michael Chipps presides.

Purdy thanked her for her work.

“Under Michele’s leadership, the student life area experienced many enhancements and improvements,” he said.

Purdy said there were a large number of applicants for the position.

"It’s clear to me that the vice-president job in McCook and the reputation of the college made it attractive to a number of qualified applicants, but it also made our selection process more difficult."

Purdy thanked the search committee for their diligent work.

Long plans to start July 8 and hopes to have his family in McCook this summer.
