Good weather set the stage for nearly 140 entrants and thousands of watchers Saturday at the annual Nebraskaland Days parade.

Rodeo Queens, ambassadors, hobbyists, businesses, friends and neighbors rode horses, high-dollar cars, stage coaches and floats along the two-mile route on E. Fourth and N. Jeffers streets.

The parade lasted for two hours.

Bill and Sharon Negley served as grand marshals, having won the Dale Studley award, given each year for outstanding service to Nebraskaland Days.

The North Platte couple have spent countless hours volunteering in many capacities. Bill served as Wild West Arena manager for many years, and Sharon diligently serves on the Miss Rodeo Nebraska committee.

The number of entries in the parade was slightly higher than a year ago.

Kids cleaned up on candy, gathering it up by the bagful.

The Bulletin staff handed out its 11th annual special parade edition all along the route, featuring a story of a near-fiasco as Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show was just getting underway.
