Dr. Steve Young of the West Central Research and Extension Center in North Platte will offer an American Invasive Plant Ecology & Management Short Course June 25-27.

The course would be very beneficial in finding long-term solutions, not just short-term management strategies in the world of Invasive Plant Ecology, Young said.

It is fitting for public and private land managers, landowners, policymakers, researchers and graduate students.

The three-day course provides in-depth learning on the principles of integrated weed management, herbicide modes of action, plant identification, biological control, GPS and remote sensing applications and spatial distribution analysis of invasive plant species populations.

Also, instruction will be offered about the use of restoration practices designed to manage invasive plant species.

The course combines hands on workshops, site visits and instructor-led discussion sessions to provide the most in-depth, comprehensive education on a variety of principles and topics about the topic, Young said.

Biocontrols too

A session will be held to discuss biocontrols, how they work, the impacts, their establishment and management.
