At around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, a police officer on patrol saw a suspicious pickup parked in a stall at the Westfield plaza carwash.

Due to recent burglaries to the carwash, officers contacted the driver and suspect, Joshua Hennek, 26, of North Platte and a 28-year-old female passenger.

Police spokesman Rodney Brown said after further investigation, Hennek was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center for felony possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and legend drugs (prescription drugs), Brown said.

Brown said Hennek was driving a Dodge Dakota.

Hennek was also arrested in 2011 and 2010 for possession of amphetamine.

Hennek asked for a public defender in court Monday and his bond was set at $10,000. County Judge Kent Turnbull told him that is the minimum bond for meth possession.

Earlier this year, Joseph Duran was arrested for the Feb. 22 burglary of the Westfield carwash. He broke into the office and took two bill changers, and was caught on the security video camera.

The break in contributed to a prison sentence for Duran. Prosecutors noted that he was on parole when he took the bill changers.
